For too long, the voices of average citizens have been ignored in a mainstream media world controlled by opponents of our conservative values. However, we now find ourselves at the crossroads of an information revolution. With the advent of the internet, citizens have become more empowered to make their voices heard than at any other time in our history, and it is time we too start taking advantage of this power.

Unfortunately, conservatives have fallen dangerously behind in this age of online communication. Radical left wing activists - funded by George Soros – have been driving the public policy agenda, influencing mainstream media coverage, and mobilizing their so-called “progressive” movement at an alarming rate by utilizing new media technology.

We invite you to join us on September 6th, at the Glenpointe Marriott in Teaneck, New Jersey, to learn how to make your voice heard. Join The Wall Street Journal’s John Fund, Texas Watchdog’s Trent Seibert, AFP-NJ State Director Steve Lonegan, RightOnline’s Erik Telford, along with hundreds of your fellow citizen leaders. Please click here to register today!

Join America’s leading experts in new media and grassroots mobilization for a day of cutting edge training in online activism. Learn how you can utilize the tools of the internet to amplify the voice of the right and send a message to policy makers and the media. The seminar will cover everything from blogging, to online video and YouTube, to podcasting, and social networking. Register today!

This training seminar follows on the heels of our first-ever RightOnline event, which took place in Austin, Texas on July 18 & 19 th. Over 500 conservative activists attended in a massive show of force to counter the Netroots Nation Convention, a gathering of several thousand left wing bloggers that took place just across town. For news coverage of the event, please click here.

Radical left wing bloggers are successfully leveraging the power of the internet to advance their ideology of higher taxes, out-of-control government spending, job killing regulations, and endless red tape. Your support and involvement in RightOnline is critical to advancing our shared belief in lower taxes and more limited government, and preserving the American Dream for future generations. Please register today!

Just as our founding fathers utilized the strength of citizen led journalism and pamphleteering to spread their message of freedom and launch the American Revolution, we must seize upon the democratizing power of internet to defend the liberty that they fought so hard to bestow upon us. Please join us in this critical effort!

$3.9 Billion School Borrowing Lawsuit

July 28, 2008: AFP-NJ Executive Director Steve Lonegan Files Lawsuit to Stop $3.9 billion school borrowing: Governor Jon Corzine and his cronies in the legislature ignored the state constitutional requirement that borrowing must be approved by the citizens of New Jersey. In other words, the borrowing question must be put on the ballot for the citizens to vote on.

Victory on “Clean Elections” Bill!

AFP activists have once again proven that we can win when we act together. It is because of your efforts that the “Clean Elections” bill has been taken off the legislative table.

Over 1,000 AFP-NJ activists sent almost 11,000 messages to Assembly committee members urging them to not post this expensive welfare for politicians bill. This response is incredible and demonstrates how much power we can bring to bear when we need to.

Thank you all for a job well done! Your messages, letters, and phone calls made the many committee supporters of this bill think twice about their position.

I would also like to thank Assemblywoman McHose (R-Suxxex County, District 24) for leading the charge against this bill in the Assembly. We need more Assembly members with her ideals and courage.

Letter to Steve Lonegan from Assemblywoman McHose

Dear Steve,

Thanks for your help and that of the hundreds of volunteers and activists from Americans for Prosperity in getting the message out on A-100. Because of you and AFP, this legislation has been at least temporarily halted in the Assembly Budget Committee.

As you know, A-100, is the enabling legislation for the so-called "Clean Elections" program for 2009. It is the brainchild of the Camden County Democratic machine and was cooked-up as part of a backroom political maneuver to put forward taxpayer-subsidized political campaigns for a few hand-picked districts, and call it "reform".

This is a bad bill for a whole host of reasons -- as even its honest supporters acknowledge. Thanks to you, we've made the Legislature think again before spending millions in taxpayers' money to fund a selected group of politicians' campaigns.

Not only can't New Jersey afford it, the way this bill goes about it is ethically wrong. Now we must stay vigilant in case the bill is brought up again.

Thank you and thank AFP.

Sincerely,
Alison Littell McHose,
Assemblywoman
(R-Sussex County, District 24)

AFP-NJ Will Not Rest

We defeated two expensive ballot questions last fall, derailed Governor Corzine’s 800% toll hike scheme, and now have held back the “Clean Elections” bill scam. We are a force to be reckoned with in New Jersey.

But, we will not become complacent because we have been successful. The Corzine administration and the legislature will continue to try and find new and sneakier ways to raise taxes to fund their socialist programs. With your help, we will continue to fight for lower taxes and less government spending.

On to Victory,
Steve Lonegan
Executive Director, AFP-NJ

TRENTON – The State House steps overflowed with hundreds of taxpayers rallying against higher taxes and outrageous spending habits in Trenton May 29th. Long-time Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan was leading the charge as Americans for Prosperity brought residents out from every corner of the Garden State to the Trenton to say “No!” to higher taxes.

“This rally is powerful show of force for real citizen support for reduced spending, lower taxes, and an end to the Trenton bureaucracy’s attacks on small towns. We’re here to remind them that we love New Jersey, and we’ll take notes on all of their votes,” said Lonegan.

AFP members were joined by taxpayer leaders, elected officials, and others throughout the afternoon. After the success in stopping Governor Corzine’s toll hike scheme, AFP is mobilizing small town voters who have strong reactions as the state threatens to cut off tax dollars, building opposition to entitlement programs such as the new Paid Family Leave Act, and bringing citizens to the debate where lawmakers cannot ignore them.

The rally was followed on Friday by AFP Foundation’s daylong Defending the American Dream Summit which will feature a 3:00 p.m. debate moderated by Gannett Bureau Chief Bob Ingle between the candidates running to represent New Jersey in the U.S. Senate.

A number of dynamic speakers addressed the crowd of citizens, who came from every corner of New Jersey to rally against higher taxes and the outrageous spending habits in Trenton.

Turning up the grassroots heat on big-spending, big-government lawmakers won historic ballot victories in New Jersey last year against higher taxes and more debt. Increasing pressure from taxpayers will permanently kill Governor Corzine's schemes for taxpayer-funded housing, toll hikes, and merging small towns.

Lonegan Unveils Wall of Pork

AFP-NJ Executive Director Steve Lonegan the New Jersey unveiled the "Wall of Pork" at a press conference at the State House prior to the Taxpayer Rally.

Bob Ingle reported,

"The state chapter of Americans for Prosperity displayed a 44-foot "wall of pork" detailing departments, agencies and commissions in state government. State Director Steve Lonegan says it can be cut by more than 75 percent. He said: "There is not one single person who can tell you what state government encompasses. Nobody knows how big it is."

AFP-NJ activist Alice Shope (of Alice's Restaurant Blog fame) started this project to identify just what we were paying for in our state government. What she found was beyond what she imagined. Hundreds of departments and offices involved in every aspect of our lives, personal and business, all feeding off our taxes and always growing and wanting more, more, more. We couldn't even get the wall into one photograph.
